(Quick note: It seems that the book club wasn’t a big hit so we have decided to discontinue it for now. I know we all lead very busy lives and hopefully one day soon we can get this group back up and going!)

These last few weeks have seen immense tragedy and destruction in Oklahoma as well as other areas of the Mid-West. There are many of those in the oilfield that live in and around Moore, OK.  I was struck by the very intense and immediate response by those in the oilfield community. I have been proud to be oilfield from the start, but the response of the oilfield community only serves to bolster that pride.

With the latest round of storms, I thought that I would share a list of ways you can help those affected.

1) Text REDCROSS to 90999- This sends a $10 donation to the Red Cross. The amount is added to your bill or is deducted from your account balance if you have a prepaid phone.

2) Donate to the United Way of Central Oklahoma- To donate, go to the United Way of Central Oklahoma website. This chapter of the United Way is working with the State of Oklahoma to manage the OK Strong Disaster Relief Fund.

3) Text STORM to 80888- This sends a $10 donation to the Salvation Army. Just like the Red Cross, the amount will be added to your bill or taken from your prepaid phone balance.

4) Donate to Samaritan’s Purse- To donate, go to the Samaritan’s Purse website.

5) Text TORNADO to 32333- This sends a $10 donation to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. The amount will be added to your bill or deducted from your prepaid phone balance.

Also, hurricane season started yesterday and I know that many of our readers are in areas that see this type of activity. Click here and read up on ways to get prepared for a storm.

If you can donate or volunteer, please do. Stay safe everyone!

Comments

  1. Good article Jaimie. Keep up the great work. Your Colonel

  2. Halliburton and Chesapeak both donated several million dollars in relief funds to Oklahoma! It’s great to see them standing by our community and helping. The recent El Reno tornado was less than a mile away from my husband’s location.
