Home Sweet Smelling Home

homesweethome2

Being a working oilfield wife, I do not always have the cleanest of homes. Sometimes it is hard to keep up with kids, pets, dishes, laundry, and all those other little chores that can not only make the house look dirty, but smell unpleasant as well.

One of the newest, greatest Pinterest addictions for me is Home Made Potpourri! As the weather changes with the seasons, I love to transitions the smells in our home to warm, sweet scents like vanilla, cinnamon, and spiced orange. Homemade potpourri is not only easy to make, but much more in expensive than some of my all time favorites like Scentsy and Gold Canyon Candles. Follow these steps below or follow me on Pinterest for my potpourri recipes!

Stove Top Potpourri – Ingredients

Mix 1 whole chunked orange or just orange peel

1/2 cup cranberries

1 Tbsp. whole cloves

3 sticks cinnamon or small handful of pieces of cinnamon

A small pinch of grated nutmeg (if desired)

Mix all your ingredients in a pan on your stove top combined with 6-8 cups of water. Add additional ingredients or more to strengthen the smell. Simmer for amount of time desired. Do not allow to boil. Clean pan as normal.
