A Healthy Dose of Joy

If you watch the news for even five minutes you will be bombarded with depressing stories. Just in the last few days there was the shooting at LAX, bullying in the NFL, and political debauchery galore. I know that there are good things happening in the world, but it’s hard to see when all that is reported is negative and sensationalized. When I’m stressed and frazzled from living this oilfield life and the rest of the world seems depressing, some restorative laughter always helps save the day.

So, in the interest of uplifting us all, I’ve found some links that are sure to put a smile on your face or to restore some of your faith in humanity.

-What is better than a good looking man rescuing animals? Not much if you ask me!

-This video of two men experiencing labor pains made my day. Now, I just have to figure out a way to get my husband to try it.

-These inspiring words of advice from strangers on the streets of NYC.

-I love the Vine app, which is mentioned in the story from the link above. My favorite Viner? Bat Dad. Seriously. Download the app (available for iPhone and Android) and search for Bat Dad. Just be prepared to spend about half an hour watching all of his vines. You’re welcome. :)

-This YouTube video about Rock, Paper, Scissors  made by Flula. His observations on some American sayings and doings are hilarious. Like Bat Dad, Flula’s videos can be addicting.

-This clip  from Jimmy Kimmel Live! Every year, Kimmel asks parents to tell their kids that they ate all of that hard earned Halloween candy while recording their reactions. I’ll have to remember this for next year. (Sorry, kids!)

-This story about a 90-year old man who saved a little girl from a runaway horse touched me. He definitely restored some of my faith in humanity.

-Finally, check out some funny pins from Pinterest here and here. (Feel free to follow me!)
