Faithfully

And lovin’ an oilman

Ain’t always what it’s supposed to be

Oh, girl, you stand by me

I’m forever yours

Faithfully

Faithfully, An Oilfield Love SongMy rough and tough Oilman was serenading me in a voicemail.  He took it upon himself to change some of the lyrics and he sang “Faithfully” to me.  I ate it up like it was a big piece of chocolate cake.  I loved it and I kept listening to the Journey classic.   It summed up life as an oilfield couple.  I sang it in my car, while I was cleaning the house, or folding laundry.  I sang it at the top of my lungs.  I added in a few sweet dance moves and sang it into my improvised pen microphone.  In my head, I am a rock star.

I thought about how cool it would be if someone who could actually sing recorded the song as an oilfield anthem.  Luckily for me, my mom and her identical twin sister can sing (they are referred to as “the twins”).  My mom had never heard of “Faithfully” before I introduced her to it.  How one can be unfamiliar with the glory that is Journey, I have no idea.  I feel the need to disclose that the twins know all of the Judd’s greatest hits by heart.  The Judds are their jam, not Journey.  I had them record “Faithfully” anyway.  In my humble and biased opinion, they rocked it.

I wanted to share this with each of you, my fellow oilfield families.  I asked for your photos.  I loved seeing your smiling faces, the love that you have for your own oilman, and your adorable children.  I put your photos and my song together.

Without further ado, I give you “Faithfully”, the oilfield edition.

Merry Christmas ya’ll.
