About

(Melissa & Christy)

Hi! Welcome to Real Oilfield Wives (ROW). Melissa and Christy put this site together for themselves and other oilfield wives/girlfriends/significant others, because they had nothing to do other than sit around on their asses, eat bonbons, and shop online all day, every day, spending their husband’s hard-earned money. You know, while they were working. The husbands that is. All the time.

We all know how lonely this life can be… long nights, days on end with no adult conversation, holding down the fort on our own for weeks at a time. Even though sometimes it’s nice to have all that ‘free time’, getting back into a groove together after so long isn’t always fun! Really, it kind of sucks.

So, welcome to ROW. We whipped up this site as a supportive community where women can find advice, friends, support, and maybe a good online sale tip every now and then!

We’re so glad you’re here!

All the nitty-gritty on our site can be found in this welcome post!

About Melissa:

Melissa has been married to her husband {and the oilfield} for the past 13 years. She is a momma to six {16, 14, 10, 10, 1 and a foster baby), tends her 2 dogs, 3 cats, and 6 chickens, and in all of her free time, she likes drink coffee by the gallon, feed her Amazon Prime addiction, browse Pinterest, and dabble in photography. You can also find her at the Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans, Shrinking Kitchen, and Wherever I May Wander.

About Christy:

While not technically married to an oilfield man, Christy and her husband have lived 325 miles apart Monday-Friday for the past 6 years. Six. Long. Years. Their livelihood relies heavily on the oil and gas industry, so she figures it’s cool for her to hang out at ROW. Christy has two kids, ages 9 and 4, a rescued dog, and 200 cats (okay, only 4). She lives out in the middle of nowhere, Texas, loves to take pictures, hike, run, and is addicted to Pinterest. And Amazon.com. You can find her trying to lose weight over at Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans, and cooking up a storm at the Shrinking Kitchen!

About Jenna:

jenna150-01

Jenna has been an oilfield wife for as long as she’s been a wife. Her husband, Les, started working in the oilfield a few months before they were married, and that was over 10 years ago. The oilfield has lead them all the way from Northern CO to Alaska, where they’ve lived in Wasilla for two years. Les is a Hot Oil Operator and works a two on/two off schedule at the North Slope. The family consists of their two children; daughter Lauryn, age 8, and son Lincoln, 5. And of course what family would be complete without a couple of dogs thrown in the mix, Willy and Fudge. Jenna is a stay at home mom who doesn’t “stay at home” much, and enjoys gardening, baking, cake decorating, reading, watching movies, four wheeling, hiking, fishing, and LOVES shopping. Since moving to the final frontier they have also started home schooling, which is another adventure all it’s own.
