I live for Chex Mix. Not the kind you buy from the grocery store, the homemade kind overflowing with buttery, crunchy goodness. If I had one food to live off of forever, this recipe just might be it. One of the only good things I ever received from my mother-in-law (besides my husband, of course!) was this recipe, also known in some areas as Gizzies. Try it out at home, you will love it, I promise! If you want to shower me in gifts, cash, and winning lottery tickets for sharing it with you today, you certainly may.
This recipe makes a huge batch, so it’s perfect to send off with your husband when he goes to work. He can share with the other guys on his crew, or it can be stored in the freezer in baggies and pulled out when he needs a snack!
INGREDIENTS
24 Cups cereal & Cheez-It crackers {I typically use Corn Chex, Wheat Chex, Cheerios, and sometimes mini shredded wheat squares}
4 Cups pretzel sticks
1/4 C Worcestershire sauce
1/4 C Tabasco sauce
5 tsp Lawry’s seasoned salt
1 C butter
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
Using a large roasting pan, add cereal, pretzels, and crackers.
Melt butter in the microwave or saucepan. Add in Worcestershire, Tabasco, and seasoned salt. Stir.
Pour over cereal mix and toss as you go to coat evenly.
Bake for an hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
This is delicious, I can vouch for that! Drop some by my house ANYTIME Lissa!
I have banned myself from making it because I can’t control myself. 😉
